Welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven

Four Sources of Peace

The Way of Peace and True Liberty

Hello Friends.

This world endlessly streams information, entertainment and noise. Wouldn't it be nice to find true and lasting peace?

If you do an internet search for "finding peace," you'll find articles like this one I found.

It is called, "How to Find Peace." Let's see what pearls of wisdom it contains. Here are the four recommended steps to peace:

  1.  Spend time with friends and family.
  2. Engage in meaningful work.
  3. Believe in yourself.
  4. Seek professional advice.

These are the "secrets." the world offers to find peace. This kind of advice is easy to find and easy to lose because it doesn't work. Hey, if you're looking for peace, don't look to the world. They don't have it and they can't tell you how to find it. Because of their sin, they do not know the way of peace.

Jesus said,

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." John 14:27

Back in the fifteenth century a man named Thomas a Kempis wrote a book called The Imitation of Christ where he outlined the way of peace and true liberty. You will never see his wisdom in any of the modern writings on attaining peace but Thomas says, "The person who tries this will be treading the frontiers of peace and rest.

Here's what he says:

I want to teach you the way of peace and true liberty. There are four things you must do:

  1. Desire, my child, to work for the welfare of another rather than seek your own will.
  2. Choose always to have less rather than more.
  3. Seek the lowest places in life, dying to the need to be recognized and important.
  4. Always and in everything, desire that the will of God may be completely fulfilled in you.

These tips for attaining peace and true liberty are not at all what the natural man expects, but they are in agreement with what Jesus teaches. Our soul is restless and anxious and has no lasting peace until it rests in God.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee." Isaiah 26:3

May the peace of Jesus Christ be with you.

Wake up and repent. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
